This morning, I managed to spill a glass of water directly into the keyboard of my laptop. As I am someone who prides myself on never having mixed water and electronics (no “Dropped my cell phone in a toilet, so give me all your phone numbers!” Facebook groups for me), this was incredibly disheartening. Also disheartening, reading MacForums’s lengthy, myriad topics about spilling liquid on/near/under/into your computer, seeing success stories about successful revivals, and then finding a thread that exactly mirrors my experience — directly into the keyboard, computer shutting itself down within seconds — and seeing people commenting that there’s a .01% chance of that computer working again.

I’ve got it hanging out upside down, and I’m going to take the case off tonight to let the parts dry. Not even attempting to start it up for another few days, so I’ll be suuuuper behind on Tumblr. I might make small updates from my phone, but if you think I’m checking my dash on it, you’re crazy. Vacation starts next week, so I won’t even have my work computer — unless I have to deskwarm.

I know my computer has been alive for 5 years now. I’m also not pulling out my hair right now because I use my 500G external hard drive for nearly everything, or at least everything important. But I really wasn’t planning on buying a new laptop until next year, and I really can’t afford to replace a Mac right now and don’t want to buy a PC instead.

Let’s hope for a Christmas miracle. I’m crossing my everything, and I’m praying to Santa Claus.

Also also disheartening:
